Following the threads of an idea…

I began my journey in art as a print-maker and photographer with occasional forays into pencil drawing.
I discovered felt making during treatments for cancer; it not only reconnected me to my creative roots but provided me with some practical 'therapy' too. I fell in love with its adaptability - such a simple, yet versatile substance, that allows me to create so many different ranges of work.

In recent years I have revisited working with clay, and discovered the joy of expressing myself via abstract shapes and forms.
I have a sawdust kiln in my garden; the long, slow process of each firing is captivating. I am hoping to add an electric kiln to my growing collection of tools - keep your fingers crossed!

Working with clay and fleece allows me to explore my relationship with nature and the environment, to create art whilst being hands-on and immerse myself in its tactile and soothing processes. The opportunity to express myself this way is so beneficial, immersing myself into a myriad of emotions and senses.
This is part of my recent journey, with an underlying theme of healing and exploring the divine feminine, which has included (after pondering for several years!) me enrolling on the Masters in Contempory Crafts at Hereford College of Arts.

This course has been rudely interrupted with a different cancer diagnosis and several surgeries.
This has impacted my mental health as much as my phyisical, and as I have spent time recuperating, I find myself emerging with a renewed passion to continue with my ideas…
